Whirinaki Forest – Uncoated paper for an organic feel

Whirinaki Forest is one of the last untouched podocarp forests in New Zealand. A podocarp forest comprises a mixture of tall and short native trees with an understorey of shrubs, plants and ferns. Unfortunately, over the last 120 years, many of these forests have been cleared for farming due to the rich nature of the soil. This brochure is to promote a new eco tourism guided walking tour through Whirinaki Forest. The folded size of the brochure is DL. It then unfolds three-times culminating in the large open spread (398 x 420mm). This shows the tour route plus some of the natural flora and birdlife highlights. We specifically chose uncoated paper to create an organic look and feel to enhance the story. For the weight, we selected 150gsm to mitigate show-through. One key challenge for the printer was to retain clarity in the fantastic photography by making allowance for dot gain on the uncoated stock.
